ofanotherfashion: This is my mother, Barbara Taylor Jewell, who passed away in November. The photo was taken in 1947 when she was a freshman entering Clark College (now Clark-Atlanta University) in Atlanta, Georgia.  The photographer liked my mother’s photo and the “unusual” hairstyle she styled herself. He asked if he could use her photo as one of his samples. My grandmother, who insisted on meeting him first, approved. Submitted by Joseph O.
